Blackbeard's Well

Historic Site

Blackbeard's Well is not far from the shores of Blackbeard's Bay, said to be the former headquarters of infamous pirate Edward "Blackbeard" Teach. It is a medium size fresh water spring coming out of a hole in the ground.

According to locals, aside from outfitting their ships, pirates frequented Ragged Island to utilize the fresh water well that the island was known for.

The well is accessible by boat (during high-tide only) and over land on rugged terrain.
