Blue Hole National Park Expedition

Walking Tour
Cousteau's Blue Hole – Claudius Hassold

Andros has the highest concentration in the world of Blue Holes and is home to over 60 species of orchids, 65 species of permanent resident and 110 migratory bird species. Come explore our wonderful diversity in the Blue Hole National Park! In this tour you will visit 3 different Blue Holes and 2 very diverse coppice (forest) areas.

The expedition starts with the Bush Medicine trail, which explores the medicinal use of native plants, and leads to Rainbow Blue Hole. Then we visit Maiden Hair Coppice where many species of orchids and bromeliads create a pocket of tropical jungle with a lively soundtrack of bird calls. Our next stop is Cousteau’s Blue Hole, where Jacques Cousteau went to dive in the 1960’s. By snorkeling you be able to explore this magic underworld that fascinated this Oceanographer legend so many years ago.

To round out the adventure, ride though the extensive pine forest by means of old logging roads to take a flying leap into Captain Bills Blue Hole from the 15-foot high platform!

This great tour gives you an insight into the interior of Andros without going too far from Fresh Creek. You’ll learn about the fauna, flora and geological features unique to Andros - up close and in color!
