Brother Peter's Well

Historic Site or District

This freshwater well is located on South Bimini, a stone's throw from the northern shoreline. It was carved out of solid limestone rock with a hammer and chisel by Peter Russell, an ex-slave. This well is attributed with saving the lives of the people of Bimini following the hurricane of 1926.

The site is now only accessible by boat, following the marked trail and signage from the north coast of South Bimini.
