Hole in the Wall Lighthouse

Aerial view of Hole in the Wall Lighthouse, South Abaco – Destination Abaco

Built in 1836 by the British Imperial Lighthouse Service, this is one of the oldest lighthouses in The Bahamas and was the first lighthouse built in The Abacos. Today, the original mechanism of the lighthouse has been dismantled; it now has an automated light and no lighthouse keeper. Residents hope to restore the beauty of this once proud beacon of light for ships that sail in the beautiful waters of the Atlantic.

The scenery at Hole in the Wall Lighthouse is unlike anywhere in The Abacos, including the geological formation that it was named for.
