Small Hope Bay Lodge was opened by dive legend Dick Birch as a Dive Resort in the early days of recreational diving and is now run by his son Jeff Birch. Tradition and legacy is all present at this unpretentious friendly, family-run resort. Only 21 Beach front cabins assure a family atmosphere where guests become friends and over time family members.

Lodge or Resort Description

This oceanfront resort is located between two gorgeous white sand beaches on Andros island, and is a family-owned and operated resort since 1960.

Small Hope Bay Lodge’s traditions and legacy make this place a refuge from the hectic world of today. Here you can rest and enjoy the clear blue waters and nature, combined with excellent service and great food.

Pet Friendly Notes

Pets are welcome in the lodge, however they are not allowed in the main lounge or inside the dining patio

Recreational Opportunities

Diving is still a main attraction here, however, over the years activities like bonefishing and Island Tours, exploring the unique wilderness of Andros, have been added to the now extensive offerings for guests and visitors.

The 3rd largest barrier reef in the world is one of the main attractions of the resort. Short boat trips bring divers and snorkelers right to it. Over the years we have mapped and explored this reef like no other. Therefore we are able to create custom- tailored trips to walls, reefs, blue holes, wrecks, caverns and cave explorations for the divers and snorkelers at all levels. Small Hope Bay Lodge is a PADI Dive Resort. You can get certified and continue your diving education here at all recreational levels.

Guests who look for a less active vacation will find long, deserted beaches, plenty of hammocks, a hot tub, international cuisine, and an open bar.

Sailboats, Kayaks, Stand-up Paddle Boards, Island Boat Trips, self-guided Walking and Bicycle Tours are available to guests at no extra charge.

Fishing is offered by Small Hope Bay Lodge in conjunction with world class fishing guides from Andros. Reef, Deep Sea, and of course Sand-Flat Bonefishing are available all year around.

Trips to the Blue Hole National Park and other Island Tours are organized by Small Hope Bay for Guests and Visitors. The absence of mass tourism and the low population density on this island make room for a well preserved fauna and flora to be explored by naturalists, hikers, bikers and birders of all ages.
