Sugar Loaf

Village or Town
Master woodcarver Kenneth Whitfield carving wood in Sugar Loaf. – JMJ

The settlement of Sugar Loaf is located on the western side of the island, after you pass Landfall Park. It is known for pineapple growing, and the center of the pineapple or "loaf" found here is so sweet, hence the name 'Sugar Loaf'.

Pineapple plants taken from Sugar Loaf all the way to Hawaii were, reportedly, how Dole Pineapple got started there.

San Salvador's famous woodcarver, Kenneth Whitfield, and Stansheka's Bar can be found here. Descendants include the Douglas and Walker families.
