Sunset Point Houseboat

Unique or Historical Accommodation

The houseboat stands in the tidal waters of Fresh Creek, every window has a view of the aqua ocean flowing constantly. A stay at this unique, two-storey houseboat gives you the freedom to get away from it all. We are a favourite spot for those who seek peaceful relaxation, with the opportunity for fishing, swimming, snorkelling, scuba, kayaking, birding, hiking, and exploring.

There are decks on three sides of the houseboat, providing space for easy lounging, fishing, sunbathing, shade seeking, sunset admiring, and midnight star gazing. A spiral staircase curls upstairs to two large bedrooms, both with air conditioning, ensuite bathrooms and ocean views. The Master bedroom has a king-sized bed and sliding glass doors, with a private balcony to sit on while watching out for incoming fish. This vantage view of the creek allows the watcher to help the fisherman cast in the right direction. The second upstairs bedroom has twin beds, air conditioning, an ensuite bathroom, creekside views, and a westwards looking porch.

A large ensuite studio bedroom downstairs has a king-size bed and two large sliding glass windows overlooking the creek. There is a private screened-in porch with sturdy wooden Adirondack styled chairs, plus a deck running the length of the house containing loungers, chairs, and a picnic table. The lovely prints of Androsia, a local batik, are used to decorate the rooms and the bedding is all 100% crisp cotton

Also downstairs is the comfortable lounge and a well-equipped kitchen, both with large glass windows that cool the house and provide expansive views of the ocean. The lounge has a couch, table with chairs and opens onto a deck where the afternoon shade is deep and the breezes constant. A long breakfast bar separates the lounge from the kitchen/dining area, with bar-style stools, providing a classic spot to work or play with nothing but beauty to see.

The kitchen has glass windows and doors leading to the deck, where you will be able to prepare your meals and enjoy the view of the creek at the same time. Fishermen can provide fresh fish straight from the creek to the plate. There is also a barbecue grill located on the adjacent shore.

You can sunbathe on the long deck, which is also a great place to securely moor a boat. Steps lead down from it into the soothing, healing tidal waters of Fresh Creek. The old folks of Andros say that bathing in the outgoing tide is the best remedy for soothing the aches and pains of life and revitalizing the body in the mineral-rich outgoing tide, which draws the tiredness from the body. Swimming from the houseboat is refreshing and snorkeling will reveal the critters who inhabit this area. Under the houseboat, you can spend a happy time checking out the amazing array of reef fish who call this home.

The houseboat was named Sunset Point because of the spectacular sunsets we see every evening. Amazingly, every one is different and inspiring, you will get a view of the sun setting against the water with a myriad of colours. They range from pinks to oranges to deep blues to the rich black silhouetted trees along the coastlines. Star gazers are in for a treat too, as the lack of artificial lights over Andros makes this one of the world's best dark-sky spots. In reality, we are far from the madding crowd — the perfect island getaway spot. You can really wrap some space and peace around yourself here, while you relax in comfort or fly fish right off the deck. The flats are a moment's walk away and Fresh Creek runs for 25 miles inland.

Andros has a lot to offer the Eco-tourist and we have some of the best fishing in the world, with a choice of flats, reef, or deep-sea fishing available.
